Kevin Durant’s First Game Back at Oklahoma City

Fun Fact of the Day: Before last night’s game between Duke and UNC, the rivals had met a total of 96 times and were tied at 48 wins and 7,437 points apiece.

Today’s Rundown

COLLEGE BASKETBALL

Speak of the Blue Devil.  #18 Duke beat archrival #8 UNC last night 86-78, thanks to a standout 25-point performance by villain Grayson Allen. This is a big sigh of relief for Duke fans, who watched the team lose 4 of their last 7 games over the past several weeks. Why the troubles?  Duke started the season as the national title favorite, then Grayson got a 1-game suspension for tripping players and their team suffered injury after injury, including a back injury to coach K. Hopefully, this win helps them rebound and get back in shape in time for the tournament.

SPORTS MEDIA

You can leave, but it’s going to Costas.  Longtime NBC Sports broadcaster Bob Costas announced that he’s going to stop hosting the Olympics. Costas has been the face of the Olympics for 11 games, beginning in 1992. He said he knew Rio would be his last time, but he kept his retirement a secret so it wouldn’t detract from the games. Mike Tirico will take over hosting duties beginning with next year’s Winter games. But don’t worry, Costas isn’t retiring completely. He will continue to pop up on NBC Sports every now and then, including next year’s Super Bowl.

MLB

Big Fish. Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria is reportedly in talks to sell the team for $1.6B to an unnamed New York businessman. Rumor has it that Ivanka Trump’s father-in-law, real estate mogul Charles Kushner is the potential buyer.

NBA

What the Buck?  Milwaukee Bucks forward Jabari Parker tore his ACL and is expected to be out for the next 12 months. This is sad news for Parker, because he was in the middle of the best season of his young career. Behind Parker and teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo (aka “Greek Freak”), the Bucks were starting to look like an exciting team with a lot of potential. Now, unfortunately, Parker’s future is uncertain. This is already the second time he’s torn his left ACL in 3 seasons. Will he be able to bounce back?
